When you free spar, you get Normal Skill Points to assign. For example, if you choose "Stand Up" focused sparring then spend your whole sparring session in the ground-and-pound, absolutely nothing is going to get accomplished.įocused sparring works a bit differently in its reward system than free sparring. Doing actions outside what you chose will not gain you points. Focus sparring has you sparring for two minutes but you choose which aspect of your game you want to improve. Free sparring lets you spar for the aforementioned two minutes, do anything, score the points, and assign them to any skill you want. Now, there are two types of sparring: free sparring and focused sparring. Your sparring partner will for the most part be slow and let you throw punches at will he'll fight back, but he won't try to finish you. It's best to just throw a few punches, block a few, throw a few, block a few, and so on for two minutes. Every time you hit your opponent, you'll score a point, and you'll score again every time you block. Remember how I said that when you spar, you get points for basically anything you do? The best way to spar manually is to just do a stand-up slugging contest. Auto-sparring delivers a fairly low number of sparring points however: once you get good at the game, you'll want to always manually spar, because you can earn over twice as many points doing it manually as you do when you try it automatically. However, you can automate the process if you're feeling lazy or just want to get it over with. Unlike training, sparring is interactive. We'll discuss this more in the final subsection here. Typically, sparring at over 70% fatigue is wasted you would be better off resting that week, then sparring the next. Points here are modified by your fatigue rating: the more tired you are when you spar, the less payoff you're going to have. At the end of the sparring session, the totals are shown, and simple subtraction (your score minus your opponent's) will award you points to increase your skills.

Doing any positive action during a sparring session gains you a point, and doing any negative action gives your opponent a point. Sparring puts you against another fighter for a quickie two-minute round. Skills-things like "Standing Striking Offense" and "Takedown Defense"-are increased through sparring. While your attributes are important, your skills are inarguably more important.

We'll discuss the full implication of this in a later subsection. So, if you get to 32 and just let your training go, the worst the attribute will drop to is 30. Once you pass 30, 50, or 70, your attribute cannot decay past that. This drop will continue every week until you train that attribute again.Īttributes have three milestones. If the bar is empty, then the next week, you'll drop a point or two of your attributes. If the bar is full, then you recently trained, and won't need to again for awhile. The yellow bar represents, for lacking a better way to put it, the level of "freshness" of your training. If you fail to work on your attributes for too long-say, about eight to twelve weeks-then your attributes will start to decay. but it doesn't work the other way around. 2, training cardio also trains up your strength. When you get to level 2 in any given training category, not only does that make the cap rise, but it also allows you to work on two attributes rather than one. Trainer levels can be increased as you advance in your career and win matches. Training is capped by your current trainer level. See, you only have so many weeks to train (your career is limited to 12 years after all), and you'll want to get as much done as you possibly can. In our experience, there is no reason not to do intense training: yes, it eats up fatigue, but mathematically it's better to just train intensely and immediately rest the next week. Intense gives you a good payoff at the cost of a lot of fatigue. When you train, you can select to do light, moderate, or intense training. When choosing to train, you pick which attribute you want to work on, and training will happen automatically.

Training affects your three attributes: strength (the power of your strikes and chance of performing takedowns), speed (movement speed and attack speed), and cardio (your stamina pool). We'll cover training first, just because it's simpler. The main way to gain your skills is to spar and train. Starting Out Training & Sparring Techniques Events, CRED and POP Leveling Strategy
